Last year saw the success of our SeaDog Millionaire and then we finished the year with our fun-packed Christmas Cabaret.
As usual, the cabaret showcased the students own choice of song, dance or acting, including newest member Harvey singing a duet on only his third session! Well done everyone for a brilliant end to the year and a great way to celebrate Boathouse!
This year, we have been revisiting some of SeaDog Millionaire as we wish to film some of the scenes. All members have been amazing in remembering their characters, their lines and their move- ments..Even reminding us sometimes! All of this footage, plus the filming we did during rehearsals is being put together by Alex to create a documentary about Boathouse Theatre Co.
We are now focussing on subject based workshops. We asked all the members what they want to improve and have set up a series of workshops exploring these. We have had Andrew from the World Choir visit with us and he will be back for a further 2 sessions to help us create our own choir. We were super impressed with all the students focus and heard a difference in their singing after just one session. We will also be working with a dancer for some dance based sessions and will be using some Shakespeare in our acting sessions. So at present, we are not working towards a performance, but as the workshops progress will start exploring this with the students…they have a lot of ideas already! This year we are also hoping to take part in the Hastings Carnival with our own float demonstrating our dancing, acting and singing and signing choir- make sure you look out for us!
